Dr. Menakshy Koul is board certified in Periodontology. Originally from Long Island, NY, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Gannon University, and her Doctorate of Dental Medicine from the prestigious Columbia University School of Dental Medicine. She then went on to complete a residency program in Periodontics at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, one of the country’s most selective residency programs. While at Columbia University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Koul earned her certificate in periodontics, a Master of Science degree and did research on the correlation between Diabetes and periodontal disease.

Dr. Koul’s residency and clinical practice of 21 years has focused on comprehensive, systemic ramification of periodontal and dental disease and full mouth rehabilitation. She performs many procedures including gum grafting, bone augmentation, dental implant placement, sinus augmentation, and the treatment of periodontal and peri-implant disease. 

Dr. Koul enjoys the academic setting as well. She has been an Assistant professor at University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, West Virginia University School of Dentistry and at Allegheny General Hospital Department of Dentistry. She enjoys teaching clinical periodontics to young dental students. She has a study club that she runs through her office and in conjunction with KSG Orthodontics. She was one of the founders of wDISH (Women Dentists in South Hills), a forum for female dentists to learn and have camaraderie. 

Dr. Koul has been selected by her peers for the Top Periodontist in Pittsburgh Award. She prides herself as a caring, life long learner, with the passion to give her patients the highest quality of care. In her free time, she enjoys crafting, working out, traveling, and spending time with her twin children, husband and dog, Boots.
